The sorbent SMET is an inorganic sorbent based on copper sulfides. The copper sulphide is recovered of ions of antimony, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, cobalt and silver from the aqueous solutions. It can operate in solutions with salt content up to 500 g/dm3.
The sorbent SMET® is an inorganic sorbent based on copper sulfide. It available in two versions: SMET and SMET-K (composite).
SMET-K is a copper sulfide microparticles, chemically fixed on the granules of natural aluminosilicate (opal). The porous support in the sorbent composition provides greater access to sorption sites that increases the capacity per unit weight of the sorbing agent and improves the kinetics of sorption.

Most effective usage is in a static mode (addition of sorbent into the solution, followed by stirring and separation).
The recommended ratio is 10 kg of the sorbent per 1000 liters (1m3) solution. The required contact time is 2 hours. Efficiency of ions recovery is 70 – 98%.
In a dynamic mode, it is recommended to use SMET-K at a rate of filtering solution is 10 column volumes per hour, and the sorbent layer thickness of 20 cm. The optimum ratio of height to diameter of the sorbent layer columns is 2.5 - 3.5.
